The circles in this painting are open because my marriage vow had been completed, and I was learning how to live as a widow. Three quiet crosses remind me that I am still a bride, held by Christ and waiting for His return. A ladder rises toward the sky, keeping before me the knowledge that Jefferson is in heaven. Together, these symbols hold Jefferson’s death, the loss of the life I knew, and the promise that my story is not finished.
