About Beth Loulan
Beth Loulan is a mixed media painter who finishes her work in oils. She focuses on animals, using close observation of their behavior and shifting states to explore memory, loss, presence, and what continues forward.
Born in Ohio and raised in Arizona, Beth first studied graphic design and worked as a production artist before spending nearly thirty years as a pet stylist. She later owned and operated a grooming, boarding, and retail business for twenty years. Her lifelong connection with animals eventually led her back to fine art and became central to the work she creates today.
Based in Marysville, Ohio, Beth is completing her studies through Milan Art Institute and teaches at the Marysville Art League. Her work is available for exhibitions, collections, and commissions.
Artist Statement
I paint animals because their presence can hold what words cannot.
When I encounter wildlife, I am not simply observing an animal. For a moment, I stop breathing in my own atmosphere and enter theirs. I study the eyes, posture, movement, and instinctive behavior that reveal something deeper than appearance.
Through layers of handmade collage papers, mark making, acrylics, and oils, I explore memory, loss, connection, and the quiet return of hope. The animals in my work are not symbols placed into a story. Their natural behavior often becomes the story, revealing ways of carrying memory, surviving change, and moving forward without abandoning what has mattered.
I paint to preserve the feeling of an encounter and invite the viewer into it. Through the eyes, we meet.
